When this game first came out, it seemed like a pretty cool concept but I was backlogged on games. Now steam has quite a big sale going on for this game. Can anyone give me a run down on the game and if its worth buying with there being a "Guns of Icarus" online version coming? Will people with the original get a discount or bonus?

Thanks for the note. As the developer of the game, we certainly think so! The feedback that we've gotten from players would suggest that we are not wrong. At $1.24, I sincerely think you would find value in the game. With Guns of Icarus, you'll still have the core experience of shooting and repair. It will still have a few weapons and a number of different levels for you to challenge. You can play with friends, although the multiplayer experience is going to be limited. With the new Guns of Icarus Online, the multiplayer experience will be a lot more robust, and we'll add more depth to repair, with lots of customization options, and a new piloting mechanics. Actually, it'll be much more. We'll try to offer some discount for the people who bought Guns of Icarus, but you are getting a new game, and I hope you won't be disappointed with either.

thanks for the reply, however now that I got an email saying Gun of Icarus online is up for pre-order, I really can't say I'm keen to buy this game. Can you give me details if there is any benefit to buying this game as opposed to pre ordering the online version?

Yeah, if you want to pre-order Guns Online, then it's totally not in my place to sell you Guns of Icarus, and so I won't! I think it still offers an interesting game play mechanic, so if you want to try out the blend of fighting and repairing, you can check it out. But don't worry about it.
