Just curious to see what people's favorite games are.

Depends on what favorite part. I think my favorite game art differs from my favorite game-play, which differs from my favorite story. I tend to prefer side-scrolling platformers and action RPGs.

The World Ends with You was an interesting game from a concept standpoint. I thought it was cool that it was a RPG set in an urban neighborhood (Shibuya) that I was very familiar with, with details right down to the inclusion of the real life stores on the streets of the blocks. The flat, graffiti artwork and hip-hop soundtrack complete the atmosphere. I also like that you can choose whether or not to grind fighting monsters; it's not required to progress. I also really like the aesthetic style of both Okami and Twilight Princess. Both games involve lots of running around as magical wolves in an action rpg setting, but the ink brush paintings of the Japanese setting in Okami and the desaturated, sylvan tribal art of Zelda make these games artistically distinct.

Possibly my favorite of all time is Chrono Trigger. It's one of the few games where the choices you make actually have an effect on the story and the characters and settings are so varied and quirky that the game has become a classic example of how to make an appealing RPG plot. The fights are a nice balance between turn-based and real-time combat, and it doesn't suffer from some of the battle fatigue of some of the other JRPGs. One can overlook Toriyama's DBZ-ish character designs, and enjoy the great game-play and imaginative story.

Oh man, I so loved Battle City. It's an all time classic. I was the guy who sniped my partner so they would freeze and I would get all the power ups. My parents used to fight over that game.

Civilization.

If I have to pick a number, I'll say II wins on nostalgia and "most improvement in a single sequel". But all four of them are good for the same reasons.

Some all time classic games here. Gosh, too many games to pick. I'll probably take Super Robot Wars, any game in the series.

Sid Meier's Pirates! I loved the game's freedom to roam the map and the ability to change the cities' economical and political status through your actions.

By the way, I also liked Battle City, specially the Map Editor.

There was a game called Z, back in the day. It is the reason why I love RTS games today. I played this in 1996 or so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6y_MQydUuc

Going to have to go with a semi-obscure one from the old SNES glory days.

My all-time favorite is EVO: The Search for Evolution. You would have to have played it to get why it was so great.
